Professor James Engell's HarvardX Course Sees Increased Demand Worldwide

In fall 2019, Professor James Engell’s HarvardX and EdX course, “Rhetoric: The Art of Persuasive Writing and Public Speaking,” enrolled more than 20,000 students with almost one hundred studying for certificates. This spring, with “stay at home” regimes in force around much of the world, more than 211,000 have signed up with over 200 taking certificates. It has become one of HarvardX’s top ten courses, and Inc. Magazine named it one of 2019’s most popular online courses.
Professor William Granara, Professor of the Practice of Arabic on the Gordon Gray Endowment, was named Walter Channing Cabot Fellow for the current academic year.
