Congratulations to Dr. Rachelle Grossman, who recently accepted an offer to be an Assistant Professor in the Department of Comparative & World Literature at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Her specialty is Jewish literature with a focus on Yiddish.
Her 2023 dissertation, titled “Cultural Capitals: Postwar Yiddish between Warsaw and Buenos Aires,” was chiefly concerned with the story of Yiddish after the Holocaust and the prolific publishing endeavors of cultural activists around the world.
We are so excited for Dr. Grossman as she embarks on her next endeavor!
Founded as a graduate program in 1904 and joining with the undergraduate Literature Concentration in 2007, Harvard’s Department of Comparative Literature operates at the crossroads of multilingualism, literary study, and media history.
