Professor Zanetti has published broadly on German, French, and English poetry from the eighteenth century to the present. Book publications include two major studies on Paul Celan (zeitoffen: Zur Chronographie Paul Celans, 2006, and Celans Lanzen: Entwürfe, Spitzen, Wortkörper, 2020), as well as monographs on the poetics of “late works” (Avantgardismus der Greise? Spätwerke und ihre Poetik, 2012), on literary writing (Literarisches Schreiben: Grundlagen und Möglichkeiten, 2022), and most recently on literature and contingency (Was bleibt, was kommt? Die Zeit der Literatur, 2023).
Founded as a graduate program in 1904 and joining with the undergraduate Literature Concentration in 2007, Harvard’s Department of Comparative Literature operates at the crossroads of multilingualism, literary study, and media history.
