Ancient Studies workshop on Comparative Approaches to Language Learning in the Premodern World
On Wednesday, February 5th, 12- 1 30 pm in Barker 133, there will be two paired comparative talks on issues of multilingualism and indigeneity from two scholars:
Matylda Figlerowicz, Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature will speak about “After Malinche’s Babel: The Perception of Nahuatl’s Temporality in Language Pedagogy”
Victoria Almansa-Villatoro, Junior Research Fellow, Harvard Society of Fellows, will talk about: “Beyond Hieroglyphs: Standardization, Dialects, and Literacy in ancient Egypt (c. 2600-2200 BCE)”
Founded as a graduate program in 1904 and joining with the undergraduate Literature Concentration in 2007, Harvard’s Department of Comparative Literature operates at the crossroads of multilingualism, literary study, and media history.
